Scholarship Winners

Each year the Harwich Republican Town Committee awards a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating Harwich senior — regardless of political affiliation. Here are our past recipients.

2025 — Claire Hemeon

2025 — Claire Hemeon HRTC scholarship

Claire Hemeon of Monomoy Regional High School, bound for the University of Connecticut. An Honor Roll and National Honor Society student, Claire served as President of Best Buddies and volunteered with older citizens and the visually impaired. 2024 — Maria Hlvaty HRTC scholarship

The Harwich RTC $1,000 scholarship was awarded to Maria Hlvaty, who is attending UMass Amherst. Chair Peter Hughes presented the award.

2023 — Lucy Mawn

2023 — Lucy Mawn HRTC scholarship

Lucy Mawn, attending Saint Anselm College. Her essay on democracy and what it means to her was the winning essay. Chair Peter Hughes presented the award.

2022 — Katherine Gabri

2022 — Katherine Gabri HRTC scholarship

Katherine Gabri, winner of the 3rd annual HRTC scholarship. A Harwich resident and Monomoy Regional High School graduate, she pursued a degree in Engineering at Providence College.

2021 — Henry Watson

2021 — Henry Watson HRTC scholarship

From 9 applications, Henry Watson was selected for the 2nd annual scholarship and attended UMass Amherst. A special $400 scholarship was also awarded to Justus Canto of Monomoy Regional High School, bound for Cape Cod Community College.

2020 — Kyle Gabri

2020 — Kyle Gabri HRTC scholarship

Kyle Gabri of Monomoy Regional High School won the first HRTC scholarship and attended Providence College. Runners-up Sean Gould (Curry College) and Julianna Smith (Merrimack College) each received $100.
